CONGREGATION OF THE MOTHER OF CARMEL (C.M.C.)

The Congregation of the Mother of Carmel was founded in 1866 at Koonammavu, Kerala by Frs. Kuriakos Elias Chavara and Leopold Beccaro, OCD. It is of Syrian rite. 

The goal of the Congregation is that its members be completely possessed by God in total availability to our fellow men. The main work of the Congregation is education aiming at the intellectual, social, economic, moral and spiritual advancement of the people, particularly of women and children. The care of the sick and the destitute, the handicapped and the marginalised, social welfare services and similar other activities are also undertaken according to the needs of the Church and of the people of the locality. The spirit of the Congregation may be described as "Bhakthi Karma Yoga" as portrayed in the motto "Dhyanena Madbhakta Karmana Madarpita". 

The Congregation, which is of Pontifical Rite, is at present in 8 countries, composed of 449 houses, divided into 11 provinces, 1 semi-province and 6 Mission Regions. It numbers 4799 professed religious, 270 Novices.

CONGREGATION OF THE CARMELITE RELIGIOUS  OF TRIVANDRUM (C.C.R.) 

The Congregation of the Carmelite Religious of Trivandrum was founded in 1880 at Trivandrum, Kerala, by Mother M. Elias. 

The specific scope of the Congregation is the education of girls, the Congregation also conduct child-care and social Centres, a Press and classes for mentally retarded children. 

The Congregation which is of Pontifical Right is at present in five countries, composed of 54 houses, divided into 4 regions, with 556 professed religious. 

The Congregation was affiliated to the Order on September 5, 1892.

CONGREGATION OF THE TERESIAN CARMELITES (C.T.C.) 

The Congregation of the Teresian Carmelites, founded in 1866 an Koonammavoo by Mother Elisua, under the guidance of Father Leopold Beccaro OCD. 

The specific scope of the Congregation is the Christian education of youth and other charitable works. 

The Congregation was raised to Pontifical Right on 28th June 1971 by Decree of the Sacred Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The Congregation was aggregated to the Order on November 30th, 1969. 

It has 5 circumscriptions, 113 Convents with 1064 Sisters including Novices.

SERVANTS OF THE PARACLETE (S.P.) 

The Servants of the Paraclete are a Congregation of Pontifical Right. They were founded in 1947 by Father Gerarld Fitzgerald in Jemez Springs, New Mexico, U.S.A. 

Their special purpose and apostolate is to assist priests and religious brothers who are experiencing difficulties in life and/or ministry. Their mission is performed primarily through holistic care in their renewal centers and treatment facilities. 

The Congregation was aggregated to our Order in 1956. 

The Congregation is present in three countries, the United States, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. The Congregation is composed of 7 houses and is not divided into provinces or semi-provinces. Currently there are 34 members. 

The Servant's ministry is limited to the psychological and spiritual healing of the Church's ministers.

SISTERS OF OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL 

(Vietnamese Carmelite Sisters) 

The Congregation of Sisters of our Lady of Mount Carmel (Vietnamese Carmelite Sisters) was founded on july 16, 1972, in Vietnam by Simon Hoa Nguyen Van Hien, Bishop of Dalat, and Sister Emmanuel Van Lam. 

During the Vietnam war, in March 1975, the Sisters were forced to leave Dalat and came to Saigon. The relief here in Saigon was only temporary: in September 1975 the Sisters came to Houston. In 1979, the diocese of Galveston-Houston granted the Sisters land in Missouri City, where a convent-formation house was completed and dedicated on July 16, 1983. 

The basic goals of the Congregation are: living the Carmelite spirit of solitude, prayer and communion with God. Current apostolates of the Sisters include visiting shut-ins; patients in nursing home and hospitals, acting as interpreters; teaching catechism and Vietnamese to children and teaching the English language to Vietnamese refugees. 

The Institute is of Episcopal Right. The aggregation to the Carmelite Order was granted on March 18, 1987. The Congregation has 16 professed Sisters, 4 Novices.

ANCELLE DI S. TERESA DI GESÙ BAMBINO 

L'Istituto religioso delle Suore Ancelle di S. Teresa di Gesù Bambino sorse a Cuccaro Vetere, piccolo paesino del Cilento (Italia) il 1933 dal parroco don Nicola Cerbone, e dichiarato di diritto pontificio il 1 ottobre 1988. È stato aggregato all'Ordine il 12.12.1996. 

Il carisma dell'Istituto si manifesta nel servizio umile, amante e generoso, dato in attività apostoliche modeste, radicalmente evangeliche e rispondenti ai bisogni della chiesa locale, preferibilmente in località rurali o di montagna, imitando in modo particolare Cristo povero ed umile. 

Le loro attività sono opere sociali di promozione umana, di assistenza e animazione liturgico-pastorale alle parrocchie, associazioni giovanili, scuole materne, educandati. 

Sono presenti in Italia, Brasile e Perù, con 23 case e 89 membri.

L'Istituto fu fondato a Imola (Bologna) i12 novembre 1923 da Madre Maria Zanelli Acquaderni e dal can. Giuseppe Mazzanti e aggregato all'Ordine il 18 maggio 1936. 

Suo fine specifico è l'apostolato verso i fratelli bisognosi, in modo particolare la gioventù, in spirito di amore misericordioso, anche in terra di missione. 

L'Istituto, di diritto pontificio, è presente in 4 paesi, e composto da 21 case, non è diviso in Province; è composto da 111 religiose professe, 4 novizie.

L'Istituto fu fondato dalla B. Teresa Maria della Croce (Teresa Manetti) il 15 luglio 1874, in S. Martino a Campi Bisenzio (Firenze). 

La Beata Madre colse nel carisma teresiano l'indirizzo della nuova famiglia religiosa che del Carmelo doveva vivere l'esperienza più bella: l'intimo contatto con Dio mediante l'orazione, I'adorazione eucaristica e il silenzio, favoriti da un clima di gioiosa austerità. 

Docile e fedele alle indicazioni dello Spirito, non esitò a tracciare un programma di apostolato in cui sfociasse tutta l'esperienza contemplativa: Apostolato nella scuola - Apostolato nella parrocchia - Apostolato missionario. 

L'Istituto è di diritto pontificio, aggregato all'Ordine il 15 ottobre 1903. È presente in 5 paesi, è composto da 25 case, 240 religiose.

L'Istituto fu fondato il 6 luglio 1894 in Marene (Cuneo) dalla Madre Maria degli Angeli (Giuseppina Operti) e fu aggregato all'Ordine il 6 ottobre 1897. 

Suo fine specifico è l'attività apostolica in forme diverse che mirano alla promozione della vita spirituale. Esse si concretizzano nell'evangelizzazione e nella catechesi, nell'attivita educativa e assistenziale, con una risposta anche all'istanza missionaria.

L'Istituto fu fondato a Genova nel 1859 da Don Gerolamo Campanella e dal P. Giambattista O.C.D., e aggregato all'Ordine il 7 maggio 1879. 

Le Suore Carmelitane Scalze di Rapallo formano un Istituto di perfezione di vita contemplativa. Fine dell'Istituto è di vivere la vita cristiana, ad imitazione del Verbo Incarnato e di Maria SS.ma per l'edificazione della Chiesa nello spirito contemplativo ed apostolico dell'Ordine Carmelitano fondato da S. Teresa di Gesù. 

L'Istituto, di diritto pontificio, è presente solo in Italia. È composto da 3 case, con 41 religiose.

Fondatore fu Fra Isidoro della Natività, carmelitano scalzo, circa l'anno 1737, e fu strettamente dipendente e affiliato all'Ordine fin dall'inizio. 

Suo fine specifico è la santificazione dei suoi membri attraverso una vita di orazione e di unione con Dio e l'apostolato tra la gioventù nelle parrocchie, negli asili, scuole, collegi, laboratori per ragazze.

L'Istituto è stato fondato dall'abate Antonio Petrilli, eretto in Congregazione di diritto diocesano il 115 ottobre 1934 e aggregato all'Ordine il 28 marzo 1951. 

Suo fine specifico è lavorare per il bene del prossimo dando alle orfane, ai bimbi e alle fanciulle una cristiana educazione e coadiuvando nell'istruzione religiosa dei fedeli, nell'opera caritativa, nella cura delle chiese, nel decoroso svolgimento delle sacre funzioni. 

La Congregazione è presente in 2 Paesi (Italia e El Salvador); è composta da 8 case e da 31 religiose.

JOHANNESSCHEWESTERN VON MARIÄ KÖNIGIN (CSJ) 

Die Kongregation wurde 1919 von P. Johannes Maria Haw / Diözese Trier in Leutesdorf (am Rhein) gegründet und am 16. Juli 1956 dem Orden aggregiert. 

Zweck des Instituts: Seelsorgehilfe in Anpassung an die jeweiligen Erfordernisse von Zeit und Ort sowie sozialer Fürsorgeeinsatz. 

Die Kongregation, bischöflichen Rechts, zählt 236 Mitglieder, 38 Häuser in 4 Ländern (Deutschland, Portugal, Indien, Moçambique) und 3 Provinzen resp. Regionen.

KARMELITINNEN VOM GÖTTLICHEN HERZEN JESU 

(Carmel D.C.J Sittard) 

Die Kongregation wurde im Jahre 1891 von Mutter Maria Teresa vom hl. Josef (Tauscher van den Bosch) in Berlin gegründet und 1904 dem Orden angegliedert. 

Hauptzweck der Kongregation: Dem Göttlichen Herzen Jesu Sühne zu leisten in Gebet und Hingabe an den Nächsten in Kinderheimen, Kindergärten, Altenheimen, in Katechese, Gastarbeiter- und Pilgerbetreuung. 

Die Kongregation, der am 9.5.1910 das Decretum laudis erteilt wurde, ist päpstlichen Rechts. 

Wir sind zur Zeit in 12 Ländern vertreten und haben 58 Niederlassungen in 11 Provinzen und einer (1) provinzabhängigen Region. Wir zählen 504 Profeßschwestern, 27 Novizinnen und 29 Postulantinnen. 

In Ungarn wurden 8 Häuser konfisziert, kein Haus bisher zurückgegeben. Es gibt heute eine kleine Wohngemeinschaft, die Ordenskleidung trägt und über eine Kapelle verfügt; der Karmel D.C.J ist wieder als religiöse Körperschaft anerkannt. ­ In der vormaligen Tschechoslowakei wurde 1 Haus konfisziert; das Haus ist inzwischen ausgestorben.
